BERHAMPUR: BJD’s mayor candidate from Berhampur Municipal Corporation Sanghamitra Dalei defeats her nearest rival of BJP Sabita Suar by over 20,000 votes.
“I will take Berhampur to new heights with all-round development. My focus will be health, sanitation, cleanliness and beautification of the city,” Mayor elected Dalai said.
In Berhampur, while a total of 79,719 votes went to BJD, BJP garnered 56,322 and Congress 4392 votes, respectively.
Sanghamitra Dalai, aged about 52 years, is the wife of Bhimasen Dalai. She is a resident of Bada Sahi under Berhampur town police limits in Ganjam district.
The counting of votes for elections to 106 civic bodies and three municipal corporations in Odisha is underway.
