BHUBANESWAR: The Naveen Patnaik led Biju Janata Dal on Monday staged a walk out in the Odisha Assembly Session in its first day protesting inaction against Governor Raghubar Das’s son, who was accused of assaulting an ASO stationed at Raj Bhawan.

“I and my team are very sad because the current State Government has not taken any action against the Governor’s son. Whoever beat up the government official, it has hurt me. Law and order has broken down in the state. When I was Chief Minister, I took action against MLAs, Ministers or government officials who broke the law. As no action was taken against the Governor’s son, we left the house, “ said Naveen Patnaik, Leader of the Opposition.

Meanwhile, BJD and Congress MLAs also boycott Governor’s address in the state assembly over the issue of his son assaulting a Raj Bhavan staffer and police inaction.

Baikuntha Pradhan, an assistant section officer at the Puri Raj Bhavan, who was allegedly assaulted by Odisha Governor Raghubar Das’s son, had been transferred to the Home Department few days ago. Pradhan’s wife had recently claimed that he was physically assaulted by Das’s son and his associates on July 7 when he was at Raj Bhavan, Puri.
