BHUBANESWAR: A delegation of Biju Janata Dal MPs from both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha led by Puri MP Pinaki Mishra met the Director of Bhubaneswar AIIMS and requested her to make steps for use of Odia language.

BJD MPs Prasanna Acharya, Amar Patnaik, Sarojini Hembrum, Anubhav Mohanty, Sasmit Patra, Sarmitha Sethi and party State secretary Biranchi Narayan Mahasupakar were among those present during the discussion with AIIMS Director.

The ruling BJD has opposed the directive of All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS), Bhubaneswar regarding the use of Hindi language by faculty and staff members. Criticising the move, BJD MP Pinaki Mishra said his party  lodged  protest with the Health Ministry and  asked for a change in the directive.

Mishra said.”We insisted on Odia being used since our people are familiar with it and that will make their task of availing service at AIIMS easier and we have lodged our protest with the Health Ministry and asked for a change in this directive” he added.

According to an office order of AIIMS Bhubaneswar dated February 20, the government servant is specified to do his official work in Hindi with an immediate effect.
