BHUBANESWAR:  The ruling BJD in Odisha on Wednesday, raised the Railways neglect issue in Rajya Sabha. Raising the matter, Party’s MP Manas Mangaraj said the railway line between Paradip-Haridaspur railway lines is open for goods and commercial traffic but has not been opened for passengers. People of Kendrapara have been long demanding but nothing has happened yet, he said.

Railways and their development in Odisha have been historically neglected, BJD MP Mangaraj alleged.

Odisha Government has been providing free land and 50% project cost for various Railway projects in Odisha including the 35 km long Puri-Konark railway line but there is no official confirmation yet, the MP said. Odisha Government is providing 50% expenses for Jeypore-Nabarangpur, Jeypore-Malkangiri railway lines but no progress made yet, MP Mangaraj argued.  Jaleswar-Digha Railway project also facing the same fate, he alleged.  Modernisation of Railway Stations also not impressive in Odisha, he said.
