BHUBANESWAR: The ruling Biju Janata Dal MLA from Jayadev Assembly seat, Arbinda Dhali on Thursday demanded strong action against sand mafias active in river bridges of Balianta – Kushabhadra , Tankapai and Uttara areas of Khurda district.
Dhali ,a 5th times MLA and former Minister however uploaded a video in his Facebook Account , which shows machines engaged for sand exploration work
“Sand being lifted by sand mafia by using heavy machinery which is not permissible by the Government of India and Odisha as it goes against “Mines and Minerals Act,1961” . District Administration should take necessary steps to stop this to save the river bridges of Balianta – kushabhadra , Tankapai and Uttara from getting wrecked at the time high flood due to erosion of sand from rivers. And it is a high time , Administration shouldn’t remain silent and should take necessary action against it to stop the sand erosion as early as possible,” the ruling Party MLA said.”Rampant illegal sand lifting is going on and no action against sand mafias,” Dhali lamented.
Dhali is a fifth term member of the Odisha Legislative Assembly and represented the Malkangiri from 1992 to 2000 and the Jayadev constituency from 2009 to 2014 and 2019. He was a former Transport and Corporation Minister in BJD-BJP alliance that broke in 2009. Dhali was also served as Chairman, Odisha Seeds Corporation Ltd.
