BJD all set to win Padmapur byepolls in Odisha as Lead Touches 35,296 votes at 20th round of Counting

BHUBANESWAR: BJD’s Barsha Singh Bariha is leading by 35,296 votes at the end of the 20th round of counting for the Padmapur byepolls in Odisha’s Bargarh, counting for which is under way at 14 tables.

At the end of 20th round, BJD’s Bariha got 104183 , votes while BJP’s Pradip Purohit bagged 68887 and Congress’s Satya Bhusan Sahoo got 3210.

Counting of  votes of 319 booths  in 14 tables is underway in each table. There will be 23 rounds of counting for the by-poll. So, the counting process may be delayed.

The by-poll for Padampur was held on December 5. Fate of 10 candidates including BJD, BJP and Congress will be known on Thursday.

The fate of  BJD’s Barsha Singh Bariha, daughter of late MLA Bijaya Ranjan Singh Bariha,  BJP’s Pradip Purohit, who had won the seat in 2014 but lost to BJD’s Bijaya Bariha in 2019, and . Congress’s  three-time MLA Satya Bhusan Sahu, will be decided.
