ROURKELA/BHUBANESWAR: Birsa Munda Athletics Stadium Complex in Rourkela and three Hockey Training Centres in Birsa, Lahunipara and Manchmara in Sundargarh district were on Friday inaugurated by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
Odisha CM said that these projects will help in nurturing a large spectrum of sports talent from Sundargarh and nearby regions.
“Apart from hockey, Sundargarh has produced players of repute in athletics and many other disciplines. Birsa Munda Athletic Stadium complex features an athletics stadium with 400m synthetic track & a natural turf football field which can seat more than 9000 spectators,” the Chief Minister added.
The Hockey Training Centres in Bisra, Lahunipara and Manchmara have Category 3 FIH-certified synthetic hockey turf with changing room for players, a gym and seating for 200 spectators. Each facility is spread over 3 acres with a project cost of over Rs 11 Crore per centre.
