BHUBANESWAR: The 2009 batch IAS officer and former Director of Horticulture department, Bijay Ketan Upadhyaya has been appointed as the Secretary, Board of Revenue, Cuttack after the Odisha government revoked the suspension of IAS officer.
Upadhyay was arrested by Vigilance on December 30 last year on the charges of demanding bribe amount of Rs 1 lakh from a company. Following this, he was placed under suspension by the State government.
The order comes into force with immediate effect, the order added. Earlier, the High Court granted him conditional bail in a bribery case.
Denying all the charges against him, Upadhyay had said, “I didn’t receive any money from anybody.” “I am being framed by some staff of my department who were helped by some senior officials,” he added. Earlier Upadhyay’s father had also denied all the allegations against his son saying that he was framed by some of his jealous colleagues.
