BHUBANESWAR: Jaydev MLA Arabinda Dhali resigned from the prime membership of Naveen Patnaik led BJD on Saturday and he is all set to join his old Party BJP soon or by tomorrow.
The 6th times MLA Dhali, sent his resignation to BJD President and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. Dhali started his political career from BJP and represented the Malkangiri Assembly from 1992 to 2000.
Later, he joined the BJD and successfully contested from the Jayadev constituency in 2009 and 2019. He had also served as the Transport and Cooperation Minister during BJD-BJP Coalition Government.
Sources said, when MLA Dhali learnt from his own sources that BJD might not field him in 2024 from Jayadev seat even despite he worked round the clock for his Constituency people, then he decided to take such steps and finally deserted BJD and is joining BJP soon.
Sources said, due to pressure from Third Floor and CMO, local Block Chairman of Balianta and Balipatna Blocks were not cooperating with the MLA while sand mafias calling shots in Jayadev Assembly seats, to which MLA Dhali has been opposing citing sea erosion ,damages to embankments and seaside villages.
Earlier, Dhali had quit BJP and joined Uma Bharati led Bharatiya Janshakti Party in 2006 and later moved to Samajwadi Party in 2008 before joining BJD later.
