BHUBANESWAR: Bhubaneswar Special Jail has received ISO 9001 certificate for maintaining excellency in skill development, stress management for the prisoners , occupational abilities of prisoners , food processing units and cleanness and hygienic of jail. At least 10 Jails have been planned to obtain ISO certificate.
Minister of State for Home, Capt DS Mishra flanked by IGP(Prisons) Himanshu Lal visited production units of the Jail and expressed their happiness for reforms measures taken up by the Special Jail authorities. Minister Mishra also held detailed discussion with DG (Prisons) SK Upadhya.
The Jail, being reforming institution, improvement in above parameter:, will help in the process of reforming the prisoners and the society in the long run The performance of the Jail, under above parameters has been audited by an independent body and the standards of working of Special Jail have been found to be high standard for above parameters under 5T model.
It has been planned to improve the performance, standard of jail and it has been decided that 10 jails of Odisha will work to the hilt to improve the performance standards to obtain ISO certifications.
Minister visited Production Unit within the jail premises and he discussed with DG of Prisons, Santosh Kumar Upadhyaya, regarding branding and marketing of products made by inmates under MSME Sector as there is a shortage of quality products in the market.
Minister Captain Mishra told jail officers and staffs that many of the jail inmates are here due to situational factors leading to the crime, so we should be sensitive towards them and work on the reformation of them as jail is not a punishment center but a reformation center.
Minister interacted with some of the female prisoners, listened to them and advised them to meditate, have peace in mind and to be positive in life. It will help them in dealing with this difficult situation.
