BHUBANESWAR: Based on reliable information regarding collection of huge cash as bribe from Contractors, on 21.03.2025, a short while ago, Sri Bhimasen Maharana, JE, RD Division, Jaraka, Kuakhia Section, Jajpur, was intercepted by a team of Odisha Vigilance on NH-16 near Tangi Toll Gate, Cuttack while he was proceeding from his office to his native place at village-Bentapurasasan, PS-Balianta, Dist-Khordha in his personal Hyundai i-20 Car bearing registration No.OD-02-T-8814.
During interception, a sum of Rs.2,03,940/- (suspected ill-gotten cash) was found in his possession. As Sri Maharana could not explain satisfactorily, the amount recovered from him along with his Hyundai i-20 car was seized*.
Following the interception, search is being carried out at three locations linked to Sri Maharana from DA angle. He is being examined to ascertain the source of funds. Detailed report follows.
