BHUBANESWAR:The Bharatiya Janata Party is committed to the development of women. Women power is an integral part of the social, political and economic system. Today’s women are no longer idle, they are ahead everywhere, starting from agriculture to education, flying and rockets. We are all proud of this success of women power. Under the leadership of the famous Prime Minister Narendra Modi, women have been given priority everywhere. Great efforts have been made to bring them forward. Today’s women have progressed on the path of progress under the BJP rule. The BJP government has given women empowerment the form of independence, said Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi on the occasion of International Women’s Day held at the state office.
In 2014, when the legendary Prime Minister Narendra Modi took over the power of the country, he started many schemes for women’s empowerment. Just 8 months after taking charge as the Prime Minister, he launched the Beti Bachao and Beti Padhao schemes. Inspired by the work of Hon’ble Modi, the Odisha government has also implemented many schemes for the development of women in the last 2 years. The state government has implemented the Subhadra Yojana for women’s empowerment. Today, more than one crore women have been provided with financial assistance in four installments of this scheme. The successful implementation of the Subhadra Yojana has fulfilled the dream of Odisha’s mothers and sisters to become entrepreneurs.
It has made them self-reliant and increased the respect of mothers and sisters in the family. Odisha is at the forefront of the country in creating lakhpati didis. Mamata and the Prime Minister’s Matru Bandhan Yojana have been implemented by the Odisha government together. This has removed the worries from the birth of a daughter to her education. Similarly, the Chief Minister’s Kanya Vivah Yojana has been started for financially backward women. The BJP government has launched the Chief Minister’s Kanya Sumangal Yojana to encourage the birth of girl children. The BJP government has always given priority to the development of women. Now the highest importance is being given to the health, education and skill development of women. The commitment of the state government has not only empowered women but has also doubled their economic freedom and development, said the Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Majhi.
State Women’s Front President Dr. Aishwarya Biswal said that popular Chief Minister Mohan Majhi is committed to the safety and prosperity of women. He has brought such schemes for women’s empowerment that cannot be seen in any other state in India. The BJP government has fulfilled all the promises made for the development of women during the elections. He has taken many steps for the economic development of women to make them self-reliant. Dr. Biswal said that the more we thank him, the less he will be able to do so.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister honored nine women for their outstanding contributions in the field of sports with medals and plaques.
They are the gold medalist swimmer Divyanka Divyajyoti Pradhan, Serubali Nayak for martial arts, distinguished runner Dutee Chand, State Senior Athletics Championship 2024 3000m steeplechase gold medalist Pooja Behera, 51-year-old marathon runner Babita Priyadarshani, Odisha para-swimmer Babita Dalai, national-level basketball player Lisalyn Jena, kabaddi player Biduprabha Swain, Asian weightlifting gold medalist Jhili Dalabehera. Two sisters from Odisha, Anju Ojha and Manju Pradhan, who secured third place in the cooking competition Master Chef, were also felicitated.National Social Media Coordinator Sujata Padhi, prominent woman athlete Duttichand, prominent singer Sushmita Das, and many activists of the Women’s Front were present at the event.
