BARIPADA/BHUBANESWAR: The deceased Chandan Kumar Swain was a resident of village Hindulia under Marsaghai PS in Kendrapara district. He was maintaining his livelihood by working as a supervisor in the garment factory of his paternal uncle Banshidhar Swain located in Bangalore since about last 03 years. During the professional work, he came across with principal accd Asish Singh who was also working in the said factory and accordingly the deceased befriended with him. They both were exchanging pleasantries and sharing everything related to their personal as well as professional life with each other. As the deceased was displeased and dissatisfied with his work and owner (uncle) out of some issue, he intended to relinquish his job which was also communicated to the principal accd.

Accordingly on 17.12.2024 the deceased quitted his job and workplace forever and came to Bhubaneswar where he resided temporarily. During such stay in BBSR, the deceased obtained a new SIM and contacted with the principal accd Ashis Singh by using the same number with a plea to visit him. Getting such telephonic information, the accd reached BBSR on 20.12.2024 night by availing bus and met with the deceased. As the deceased was badly in need of money, he engineered plan with the accd to obtain money from his uncle Banshidhar (owner of factory) for meeting his desires and they both decided to execute the mission in form of ransom for kidnapping of deceased.

During discussion about such planning, it was decided by the deceased that a sum of Rs. 50 Lakhs will be demanded from his uncle as extortion amount of which a lion amount will be retained with him as a mastermind and rest will be entitled to the accd as a partner of mission, which was displeased him who then intended to grab the entire ransom amount by taking away his life. Before execution of the mission, both the deceased and accd visited Baripada on 21.12.2024 morning (T) a bus from where they further paid visit to Lulung & Sitakund under Baripada Sadar PS area in a Scooty belongs to the sister of accd along with another accd companion Karama Singh @ Rinki who was directed by the prime accd to bring the same from his house for journey towards their destination. After visiting and enjoying at the above places, they all returned back and reached the embankment of river Budha Balanga in village Gumudi adjoining to the village of accd persons after purchasing liquor and dry food for further amusement on the same night at about 9.00 PM.

Accordingly the deceased and associate accd Karama Singh @ Rinki consumed alcohol heavily, but the principal accd refused to drink. While the deceased was in intoxication state, he remained his friend-cum-accd Asish to execute their mission. Hearing this, the accd rejuvenated his ulterior motive and accordingly committed murder of the deceased by cutting his neck by means of a knife collected earlier for commission of crime. Due such throat cut injury, the deceased breathed his last at spot. After commission of murder, the principal accd burnt the dead body of deceased in connivance with his associate. Before igniting completely, they both buried the dead body of deceased in half-burnt condition in the sand on the embankment of river and the accd hurled the weapon of offence in the river in order to cause disappearance of evidence.

After disposal of evidences including dead body, the principal accd came to BBSR and made a telephonic call to Deepak Swain (cousin brother of deceased and son of owner of factory) by using Mobile bearing SIM No- 8455098841 repossessed from the dead body of deceased before disposal and demanded him for extortion amount of Rs. 50 Lakhs by pretending himself to be a kidnapper of himself as well as deceased.
