Bandh hits normal life in Koraput

KORAPUT: Congress party led by Jeypore MLA Tara Prasad Bahinipati called a one day strike throughout Koraput district in demand for Kendriya Vidyalaya at Jeypore job for local students in their own area and reopening of BED college at koraput with adequate teaching staffs.

 The party is observing a 12-hour dawn-to-dusk bandh in Odisha’s Koraput district today demanding fulfillment of five-point charter of demands.

While shops and business establishments were closed, movement of heavy vehicles came to a grinding halt. Many Congress workers led by Jeypore MLA Tara Prasad Bahinipati resorted to picketing at various places

Among other Narendra Mohanty chairman Jeypore municipality, Meenakshi Bahinipati, Sukant Pattnaik, Nihar Bisoyi, Bulu Sahu, Binod Mohapatra and many Congress leaders where present

The effect of the bandh was majorly felt in Sunki, Chandili, Kotpad, Borigumma, Jeypore, Lamtaput and Pottangi areas of the district.

The demands of the agitators include establishment of a Kendriya Vidyalaya in Jeypore, appointment of youths of the district to various vacant posts of the local administration and reopening of the B.Ed college in Koraput.
