Baijayant Panda writes to Kerala CM Pinayari Vijayan after Odia Workers faced rough deals in Textile Company

BHUBANESWAR/NEW DELHI: BJP National VP-Spokesperson and 4th times, former MP, Baijayant ‘Jay’ Panda was on Tuesday wrote to Kerala Chief Minister Pinayari Vijayan seeking security and safe stay of some 1000 Odia migrant women workers, mostly from Odisha’s costal districts of Kendrapara, who were facing hardship at Textile company named Kitex Garments located at Kizhakkambalam area of Kerala’s Ernakulam District.

“It has been brought to my attention that more than 1000 women migrant workers from Odisha, who are stranded in the State of Kerala because of the ongoing restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic are being targeted and harassed,” the senior BJP leader, Panda, stated in his letter addressed to CM Vijayan.

The BJP National VP-Spokesperson, Jay Panda, further went on to added that they are in dire circumstances and allegedly starved and held captive by a textile company named Kitex Garments located at Kizhakkambalam area of Kerala’s Ernakulam District.

“The Company officials are allegedly forcing them to work pro bono and have constant surveillance on them. Most of the women are inhabitants of Kendrapara in Odisha and went there to work in the field of tailoring but now are forced to do other menial chores as well,” the letter written to CM Vijayan, by the former MP, Panda said. Panda requested the Chief Minister to take necessary action as these women are distressed and have appealed urgent assistance in this matter.
