NEW DELHI/BHUBANESWAR:  BJP National VP Baijayant Jay Panda has successfully pacified a section of dissident BJP leaders in Assam.

With rift between seniors and youth leaders growing, Party’s national vice-president, Baijayant Jay Panda had a closed-door meeting with two former State presidents, Rajen Gohain and Siddhartha Bhattacharya, in Guwahati on Tuesday. Panda was learned to have visted Guwahati for the meeting on the instructions of BJP national president, J.P. Nadda.

Rama Kanta Dewri, the party’s MLA from Morigaon constituency, former Nalbari MLA Ashok Sarma, and former State vice-president Manoj Ram Phukan were some other leaders present at the meeting.  They shared thier views with Party’s State in charge Panda about the party.

Gohain, a four-time MP, had also resigned as the chairman of the Assam Food and Civil Supplies Corporation to protest the delimitation of the State’s 126 Assembly and 14 Parliament seats. He was also critical of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and some young Ministers close to him.

“Took part in a meeting with @BJP4Assam leadership today in Guwahati where various organisational matters were discussed. The discussions were productive and focused on the roadmap ahead for continued success of the party and overall development of the state,” Panda said.
