BHUBANESWAR/NEW DELHI: Dr Bansidhar Panda if alive, would have turned 90 years today . The late visionary industrialist’s IMFA Empire now a household name in entire South Asia for its Ferro alloys, also celebrating its 60th Foundation Day. In mid-80s Dr Panda had bought properties of Kalinga Tubes, an ailing unit established by Biju Patnaik, at Choudwar where he set up his second ferroalloys and power complex.
Dr Panda’s eldest son and BJP National VP in Charge of Assam and Delhi, Baijayant Jay Panda has paid rich tribute to him on his birth anniversary. ‘He would’ve been 90 today, the company he founded on returning to india after years of study & research in the US, 60. He was a Karmayogi, created livelihoods for tens of thousands, a fighter who didn’t cut corners, a philanthropist who helped thousands, a loving father. Miss him,” BJP National VP Baijayant Jay Panda tweeted @PandaJay.
Indian Metals & Ferro Alloys Ltd (IMFA), India’s leading fully integrated producer of ferro alloys celebrated its 60th Foundation Day which also coincides with the 90th birth anniversary of its Founder Dr Bansidhar Panda. Commemorative events were held at the Corporate Office in Bhubaneswar besides Therubali, Choudwar & Sukinda. The special anniversary logo released on this occasion depicts the transformative journey of six decades and references infinity to signify many more milestones to come.
Dr Bansidhar Panda, a research scientist, and Mrs Ila Panda established IMFA in 1961 to initially produce silicon alloys and later diversified to chrome alloys. Starting with one furnace in a remote corner of Odisha, today IMFA is recognised globally as a quality conscious producer and reliable partner.
