BHUBANESWAR/GUWAHATI: BJP National VP and In Charge of Delhi and Assam, Baijayant ‘Jay’ Panda , who has been camping at this North-Eastern States to oversee BJP’s poll preparations, on Tuesday offered prayer at the Lord Jagannath Temple in Dibrugarh in Assam seeking Saffron surge in entire North-East.
BJP National VP Jay Panda was accompanied by BJP’s Assam Organising Secretary Phanindranath Sarma and other party leaders.“Started my day with a visit to Mahaprabhu Jagannath Temple in Dibrugarh. Since yesterday I am on tour in the Upper Assam region to attend various Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)’s district-level organizational meetings,” Jay Panda tweeted.
“There is some connection between every Odia and Mahaprabhu Jagannath. Where ever I go, I find him waiting for me to give his darshan. A couple of months ago while in Manipur to campaign for assembly by-polls, visited a local temple and found a small complex inside the main temple for Lord Jagannath. As the saying goes, u take 1 step and the lord takes 10 to reach you. Was accompanied by BJP Assam Pradesh’s Sangathan Mantri Shri Phanindranath Sarma Ji, other padhadhikaris, and karyakartas. Jai Jagannath,” he added.
Currently governed by the Sarbananda Sonowal-led BJP regime, Assam is slated for polls in April 2021.The prospect of elections in Assam this year has generated a considerable amount of enthusiasm, especially in the previous elections in 2016, the polls brought a change of power.
The Indian National Congress (INC), which had formed the government under Tarun Gogoi since 2001, lost its majority to the Bharatiya Janata Party led by Sarbananda Sonowal. The National Democratic Alliance (NDA), led by the BJP, is looking to secure its foothold in the state, being supported by Atul Bora’s Asom Gana Parishad and other regional parties like the United People’s Party Liberal and the Gana Suraksha Party.
