KENDRAPARA/BHUBANESWAR: BJP National Vice President and Kendrapara Lok Sabha MP elected Baijayant Jay Panda on Wednesday received his victory certificate from Returning Officer and District Collector of Kendrapara, Suryawanshi Mayur Vikas.
BJP Kendrapara Distract President Kishore Panda, senior leader Salim Khan, MP elected Jay Panda’s Political PS Jyoti Prakash Ghose and others were among those present.
‘Today I received the victory certificate from the Returning Officer and District Collector of Kendrapara. Heartfelt thanks to my dear people of Kendrapara and all the working brothers and sisters of Bharatiya Janata Party ,” the Kendrapara MP elected Jay Panda said in a X post.
It may be noted here that since 1952 first Lok Sabha elections to the recently concluded Parliamentary polls of 2024, Kendrapara Lok Sabha seat has been sending leaders having diversified qualities to India’s Lower House of Parliament but most importantly, only except late Biju Patnaik and late Surendra Nath Dwivedy, not a single politician ever elected 3 times from this seat , what BJP National Vice President Baijayant Jay Panda did in 2024.
Late Biju Patnaik elected 3 times, in 1977 as BLD candidate and in 1980 and 1984 as JP(S) candidate while SN Dwivedy first in 1957 and then in 1962 and 1967 as Praja Socialist Party.
The BJP National VP Panda had earlier served as Kendrapara Lok Sabha MP for consecutive 2 terms between 2009 to 2019 as BJD candidate and before that, between 2000 to 2009, the senior BJP leader was in Rajya Sabha from Odisha as Naveen Patnaik led BJD nominee.
With his election from Kendrapara Lok Sabha seat in the recent polls , Panda has set a remarkable record in the political the political history of this Parliamentary seat once represented by stalwarts like late former CM Biju Patnaik, former Lok Sabha Speaker Rabi Ray and veteran socialists Surendra Nath Dwivedy. Rabi Ray (1989 and 1991) twice represented Kendrapara Lok Sabha seat twice along with Pravat Samantray (1998 and 1999). Other MPs had served once.
Meanwhile, BJP sources said, MP elected Jay Panda, along with MP elected Dharmendra Pradhan, Pratap Sarangi and MLA elected Surama Padhi were among those in race for next Chief Minister of Odisha, besides name of former CAG Girish Murmu also moving round the corner.
BJP State President Manmohan Samal said, Party’s Parliamentary Board will take a call on it with next 2 days as Prime Minister Narendra Modi has already fixed June 10 for Oath taking ceremony for the new BJP Government in Odisha.
