NEW DELHI/BHUBANESWAR: The BJP National VP in charge of Assam and Delhi, Baijayant Jay Panda has strongly backed Party’s Bhubaneswar MP and National Spokesperson, Aparajita Sarangi over the alleged illegal construction in the Prohibited area(100 metres)of Jagannath Temple in Puri.
The BJP National VP, Jay Panda , who earlier had on Monday tweeted about vandalism inside the temple, on Tuesday went further step to back his party MP Aparajita Sarangi. Baijayant Panda’s tweets came following his political rival , BJD MP Anubhav Mohanty and his estranged wife, Varsha Priyadarshini started blaming BJP MP Sarangi and lauding Puri MP Pinaki Mishra’s claim.
“A very important revelation indeed. The excuses being given by Odisha’s governing party have been demolished. The state must now honour every Odia’s sentiment & stop its unauthorised destruction of the prohibited area surrounding the temple of Mahaprabhu Jagannath,” Baijayant Panda tweeted referring to MP Aparajita Sarangi’s revelation of ASI letter to stop work.
Baijayant Panda had earlier tweeted.
“Archaeological Survey of India has issued letter to the concerned authorities of Puri for stopping work in the Prohibited area(100 metres)of Jagannath Temple,Puri. But work has not stopped by the State Govt till now.Illegal this is!Isn’t it time for all of us to SAVE OUR TEMPLE?,” BJP MP Sarangi had tweeted. She also attached ASI’s letter dated February 5, 2022 in her tweet. The letter said that its staff posted at the spot had said the state government is carrying out construction work near the temple which falls under its prohibited area.
“I am an Odia girl, whenever I go to visit Puri Srimandir, I dont find public toilets for women nearby & I have also heard similar complaints from women Bhakts visitors as well. If Government is developing facilities for pilgrims in Puri, what is your @AprajitaSarangi problem? And negativity towards development of pilgrim facilities in Puri. When you entered politics we thought you would work for the development of Odisha, but now we are deeply disappointed. I hope you will understand the plight of the pilgrims particularly of women going to Puri and Lingaraj and not oppose the development of pilgrim facilities there,” Kemdrapara MP Anubhav Mohanty’s estranged wife, Varsha Priyadarshini said in a series of tweets while MP Mohanty’s desk clapping scenes created confusion when Puri BJD MP Pinaki Mishra started blaming BJP MP Sarangi.
however, Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mohapatra said that the State Government is undertaking the Puri Heritage Corridor Project Construction works in coordination with Archeological Survey of India(ASI).Chief Secretary was responding to BJP MP Aparajita Sarangi’s allegation that Odisha Government has continued with the construction work in prohibited areas near Shree Jagannath Temple despite the letter to stop work issued by ASI.
Aparajita Sarangi demanded immediate stop of work as it violates the norms under the Ancient Monument and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act, 1959.
