BHUBANESWAR: Bahanaga Rail Tragedy in Odisha’s Balasore, which had claimed 293 lives, till haunting with 29 dead bodies preserved here at AIIMS-Bhubaneswar.

As of today AIIMS -Bhubaneswar has handed over 133 dead bodies to their relatives and family members.

The National Institute had received 162 bodies in two phases. Out of the total bodies 81 were delivered to their family members in first phase. But, due to multiple claimants and few other issues DNA samples of bodies as well as claimants were sent to New Delhi for matching.

In the second phase body handing over process, till now 52 bodies have been despatched to their families.

There are 29 bodies preserved in the containers at AIIMS. After this, 29 bodies will be there mostly unclaimed if DNA samples will not match.
