BHUBANESWAR: Case Ref: – Badgada P.S Case No 121, Dt 9.3.2025, U/S 109(1)/132/3(5) BNS / 25/27/35 Arms Act.
The Incident: –
Today morning at about 3.00 A.M at BBSR – Puri new by-pass road near Kesura a gang of criminals in a white car without registration plate exchanged firing with special squad officers and staff who were engaged for anti-ATM theft duty in BBSR city. Police exchanged fire on the ground of self defence and one criminal received injury on his left leg and undergoing treatment at AIIMS hospital BBSR. Police also managed to nab other two gang members who were trying to escape from the spot. In this connection a case has been registered at Badagada P.S and investigation is going on.
Details of the person injured: –
- Deepak Kumar (25), S/o- Ramprabash Kumar, At-Nawazgarh, P.S-Warisaliganj, Dist- nawada, Bihar
Details of the persons arrested: –
- Deepak Kumar Pande (24), S/o-Vinaya Singh, At- Khanwa, Narhod, Bihar.
- Abhisekh Kumar Singh (32), S/o- Suresh Singh, At- Harahi, P.S- Mayurkhand, Dist- Chatra.
Details of article seized: –
- One country made 7.65 mm semi-automatic pistol.
- One round live ammunition and two fired catridges.
- One white TATA Harrier car.
- A cash of Rs 12,000/-
- Three mobile phones.
- Quick fix adhesives.
- 12 numbers of ATM cards (of different customers)
- One knife and other incriminating articles.
The modus operandi: –
- All the three criminals belong to a well-organized interstate Bihar based criminal group who tampers with ATM machines.
- They apply adhesive at the card punching slot of the ATM and wait outside.
- Displays one mobile number in ATM counter as helpline number of the bank.
- Once a customer punched the card successfully withdraws the cash but not the card as adhesive is applied by the accused persons.
- If the helpless customer calls the helpline number displayed by the accused persons, they cunningly collect the password and other bank and card details of the customer.
- When the customer leaves the ATM counter, the accused persons by using sharp knife pull out the card from the slot of the ATM and withdraw cash.
- They operate state to state by using vehicle.
- Mastered in ATM tampering and stealing cash of customers.
- For last three days they were in Odisha and particularly at Puri where they committed crime.
- All the three are most wanted by Ranchi police of Jharkhand as they have committed series of crime there.
- They are involved in Lalpur P.S, Ranchi Case No 29 of 2025, Dt 25.1.2025.
