BHUBANESWAR: On Saturday Smt. Ludasini Nayak, Ex-Welfare Extension Officer, Nuagaon Block, Dist-Nayagarh, A/p- Welfare Extension Officer, Badampahad, Dist-Mayurbhanj, who was charge sheeted by Odisha Vigilance in Bhubaneswar Vigilance PS case No.7/2014 U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d)/7 PC Act,1988 for demanding and accepting bribe from a complainant to cause an enquiry and to submit report to District Welfare Officer (DWO), Nayagarh regarding the inter-caste marriage, was convicted by Hon’ble Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar and sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 4 years and fine of Rs.5,000/- and in default of payment of fine, to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for a period of 2 months more for the offence U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d) PC Act, 1988.
The Hon’ble Court further sentenced her to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 3 years and payment of fine of Rs.5,000/- and in default of payment of fine, to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for a period of 2 months more for the offence U/s 7 PC Act, 1988. Both the sentences are to run concurrently.
Further, the convict Smt. Ludasini Nayak was sent to jail custody to serve her sentence. Odisha Vigilance will now move the competent authority for dismissal of Smt. Ludasini Nayak, A/p-Welfare Extension Officer, Badampahad, Dist-Mayurbhanj following her conviction. Detailed report follows.
On the other hand, N. Prakash Patra, Ex-Jr. Clerk, UGPHC, Patrapur, Dist-Ganjam, A/p-Jr. Clerk, Sub-Divisional Hospital, Patrapur, Ganjam and Smt. N. Santosini Patra, W/o- Sri N. Prakash Patra, who were charge sheeted by Odisha Vigilance in a case vide Spl. Judge, Vigilance, Berhampur TR No.29/2013 U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(e)PC Act,1988/109 IPC for possession of disproportionate assets to their known sources of income were both convicted by Hon’ble Special Judge, Vigilance, Berhampur.
The Hon’ble Court sentenced Sri N. Prakash Patra to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 2 years and fine of Rs.10,000/- and in default of payment of fine, to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for a period of 3 months more for the offence U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(e) PC Act, 1988. The Hon’ble Court also sentenced Smt. N. Santosini Patra to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 2 years and payment of fine of Rs.10,000/- and in default of payment of fine, to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for a period of 3 months more for the offence U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(e) PC Act,1988/109 IPC.
Odisha Vigilance will now move the competent authority for dismissal of Sri N. Prakash Patra, A/p-Jr. Clerk, Sub-Divisional Hospital, Patrapur, Ganjam following his conviction. Detailed report follows.
