NUAPADA: A Legal Awareness Camp focusing on the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the Victim Compassion Scheme, 2018 for women victims of sexual offences and other crimes was held today in the NSS camp at National College campus, Silda, Nuapada district.
The session aimed at spreading legal awareness among students, teachers, volunteers, and the general public regarding the safeguards and legal remedies available to children and women victims of sexual offences.
DLSA Secretary Navneeta Dash, Additional Superintendent of Police Ranjit Nayak, and College President Hitesh Sahu addressed the gathering, highlighting the importance of legal literacy in protecting vulnerable sections of society.They emphasized how the POCSO Act ensures justice for child victims of sexual offences and how the Victim Compassion Scheme, 2018 provides financial assistance and rehabilitation support to women victims of sexual offences and other serious crimes.
College teachers, Staffs, and NSS volunteers actively participated in the programme, engaging in interactive discussions with the resource persons. The event underlined the role of awareness and collective responsibility in building a safer society for children and women.
The programme concluded with an appeal to the youth to act as social change agents by spreading awareness in their communities about these vital legal protections.
