NEW DELHI/BHUBANESWAR: “At last, a Smt. in the incumbency list of Director General, Bureau of Civil Aviation Security!, “tweeted Usha Padhee @ushapadhee1996 soon after news of her appointment as Director General of Bureau of Civil Aviation Security broke out. Padhee , an Odisha cadre IAS officer of 1996 batch, became the first woman and third IAS officer to hold this prestigious post.
Padhee has been on Central Deputation since July 2015. She has been serving as the Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Civil Aviation headed by Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri while in April this year, Union Government had extended her Central deputation for another 2 years.
Usha Padhee’s husband, Dr Arbinda K Padhee too, an Odisha cadre IAS officer and now also on deputation with Union Agriculture Ministry. The women IAS officer was recently in news for making facemask at her New Delhi residence using Sambalpuri and other handloom materials of Odisha.
