CUTTACK/BHUBANESWAR: The week long 1st Bhairab Chandra Mahanti Memorial T20 Cricket Tournament -2023 hosted by Odisha Cricket Association in association with MGM Minerals Ltd, came to an end on Friday with Assam became Champion and Jharkhand settled with Runners up Trophy. Assam defeated Jharkhand by 53 runs in the final match played at Cuttack’s Barabati Stadium. Assam scored 219 runs losing 6 wickets in 20 over while in reply, Jharkhand could managed to score 166 runs losing 8 wickets in 20 overs and lost the final match by 53 runs.
OCA Vice President and Chairman MGM Minerals Ltd, Pankaj Lochan Mohanty, Advocate General Ashok Parija, late Bhairab Chandra Mahanti’s son, Dr Kharvel Mohanti, Odisha Olympic Association and Odisha Football Association President Ashirvad Behera, OCA Secretary Sanjay Behera, OOA General secretary Abhijit Pal and others were among those present.
A total of 15 matches played and was live telecasted. Champion team was given cash award of Rs 10 Lakh and Runners Up got Rs 5 Lakh. Player of the match got Rs 10,000 while player of the Tournament got Rs 50,000.
The Tournament held from September 15 to 22 at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack. As many as 7 team from 6 States including Himachal Pradesh, Kerala, Hyderabad, Jharkhand, Assam , and Odisha participated in Tournament including 2 Teams from Odisha.
