Asit Tripathy Retires as Odisha Chief Secretary

BHUBANESWAR: Asit Tripathy on Thursday retired as Odisha’s Chief Secretary and from now onwards, the senior retired IAS officer, will discharge his duty as Chairman, Western Odisha Development Council.

“Last engagement of Mr Asit Triparhy in office today as @SecyChief . Proud of him as a leader to lead Odisha bureaucracy so successfully during the most difficult times of our generation- COVID-19. Will cherish every moment of my association with him as @SecyChief,” new Development Commissioner, Pradeep Jena tweeted @PradeepJenaIAS.

 Senior IAS officers like newly chosen Chief Secretary Suresh Mohapatra, Development Commissioner Pradeep Jena,  senior IAS officers like Pradipta Mohapatra, Ashok Meena, Satyabrata Sahu, DK Singh , Anu Garg, and others attended the farewell meet.

Apart from taking over as the Chairman of WODC, Tripathy will also have the additional charge of Advisor to Chief Minister on Regional development, Tourism, Agribusiness and Industry.Odisha government had appointed the 1986-batch IAS officer as the Chief Secretary of the State on August 19, 2019.

The biggest challenge during Tripathy’s tenure as Chief Secretary was the management of COVID-19 in the State. However, he successfully handled the situation. Tripathy successfully carried out his responsibility during his long period as an administrator. Besides, several important projects have been started by him. This includes the heritage corridor in Puri, megaproject for Ekamra Kshetra under which the area around Lingaraj Temple will be redeveloped, project to develop SCB Medical College and Hospital into AIIMS Plus institute.
