BHUBANESWAR: It seems, the flamboyant IPS officer Arun Bothra will not keep mum. The CEO of CESU, Bothra worried a lot as pending electricity bill reaching an all time high of Rs 2000.

The CESU will intensify its drive from January 16 to disconnect the power connection of those who have failed to clear the dues. A total of 58,000 consumers are yet to clear dues of Rs 691 crore. This apart, as many as 1 lakh consumers have not paid electricity bills for the past two years, it was learned.

Finding no way other way out, the senior IPS officer warned the consumers to pay their pending electricity dues by January 15, 2020, of face power disconnection.

Bothra said, “Cumulative pending electricity bill of regular consumers has touched Rs 2000 crore. In case any electricity consumer fails to clear the dues of CESU, the concerned person will face power disconnection.”

 “Messages will be sent to consumers to clear their pending bills by Jan 15, 2020, failing which power supply to their homes, offices, business establishments will be disconnected,” he added.

“Financial condition of CESU is not as good as it is yet to recover a huge amount of dues. Many consumers have not paid their electricity bills. Hence CESU is yet to recover Rs 1,971 crore till date. The consumers, who have not paid their electricity bills for the last couple of years, can pay their bill through six instalments,” Bothra added.
