BHUBANESWAR: ArcelorMittal group will invest Rs 2000 crore in Odisha. ArcelorMittal group chairman Laxmi Mittal on Saturday held discussions with Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik through Video Conferencing.
ArcelorMittal and Nippon steel have acquired Essar Steel with the order of the Supreme Court of India since December last year. The Essar Steel is a project over Rs 50000 cr.The pellet plant’s capacity at Paradip is 6 MTPA and it will be enhanced to 12 MTPA. The capacity of Dabuni beneficiation plant will be enhanced from 5 MTPA to 16 MTPA.
Mittal said that the kind of transparency maintained in the process of auctioning of two mines, namely Sagasahi and Thakurani, which was bagged by his company, has set a new global benchmark.Mittal thanked CM Patnaik for successfully handling the COVID-19 in Odisha and added that he has supported the industries during lockdown for boosting the economy.
Mittal described the completion of the lease process of two mines such as Sagasahi and Thakurani for his company as benchmarks of transparent governance in the state.The ArcelorMittal and Nippon Steel manage a pellet plant at Paradip and a beneficiation plant at Dabuni in Keonjhar. During the video conferencing Patnaik has advised the business tycoon to provide value addition to the mineral resources of Odisha.
