SUNABEDA/CUTTACK/BHUBANESWAR: With flamboyant BK Sharma at the helm of affairs of Police Headquarters’, outlawed leftwing ultras will spend more sleepless nights in coming days with Odisha Police gearing up for a massive anti-Maoists’ drive under South-Western Police range headquarters in Koraput’s Sunabeda.
DGP Sharma, who was in the leftwing insurgency hit areas, on Monday, reviewed the Maoist activities in six districts of the South Western Range.ADGP(Law & Order) RP Koche, Additional Director(Intelligence) RK Sharma,IGP(Operations) Amitabh Thakur, IG BSF, Odisha Harminder Pal, IG CRPF, Odisha SK Mohanty and DIG SWR, Shefeen Ahamed K were among those present.
Besides, SPS Sandhu, DIG BSF Malkangiri, P K Mishra, DIG BSF Koraput, S R Pandey, DIG CRPF Rayagada, Ram Charitra, DIG CRPF BBSR, Rishikesh Khilari, IPS, SP Malkangiri, Mukesh Bhamoo, IPS, SP Koraput, Saravana Vivek, IPS, SP Rayagada, Nitin Kusalkar, IPS, SP Nabaranpgur, Vinit Agarwal, IPS, SP Nuapada, B Gangadhar, IPS, SP Kalahandi and Commandants of CAPFs attended the meetings.
DGP reviewed the work done by the district police and central armed police forces in combating the Left Wing Extremism in Malkangiri, Koraput and Kalahandi districts of the South Western Range.
He emphasised upon the need to restore normalcy in these districts and also stressed upon to create a sense of security in the minds of people. He asked the District Police and CAPF to work in close coordination and unity to address the insurgency. He urged the forces to ensure that the security atmosphere should be strengthened so that the developmental activities can take place smoothly in these Maoist affected regions.
Besides, he lauded the combined efforts of the forces in improving the security of the region, asked them to consolidate upon the progress made and make further improvement so as to achieve more advancement in the coming days.
He also took their feedback regarding the needs and requirements of the forces and assured to address each one of them on priority basis. He wished them all success and assured full support in their endeavours in fighting this menace.
