BHUBANESWAR:  Odisha Transport Minister Tukuni Sahoo, Secretary Usha Padhee and Transport Commissioner, Amitabh Thakur running from pillar to post to avail bus facilies across the State following an indefinite strike called by Private Bus Owners Association.

The state wide strike by private bus owners have badly affected public transport system during the peak of Durga Puja festive seasons.

More than 15,000 private buses went off road in the state as part of the agitation .The association launched its indefinite strike in protest against the location-accessible multimodal initiative (LAccMI) of the State government.

Hundreds of passengers were seen waiting at bus stands across the state to go to their hometowns/ villages in view of Durga Puja.

Debendra Sahu, Secretary, private bus owners’ association said the Association resorted to the strike after discussion with the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) remained inconclusive.

‘No written assurance was given to us. We apologise for the strike during puja. Our intention is not to cause inconvenience for the passengers,”  Sahu said.
