NEW DELHI/BHUBANESWAR: With Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik made an aerial survey of Odisha’s Amphan hit areas on Thursday, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to make a aerial survey to take stock of the situation on Friday, official sources said.
The Prime Minister’s Office also confirmed about the PM’s visit to Odisha and West Bengal. “Tomorrow, PM @narendramodi will travel to West Bengal and Odisha to take stock of the situation in the wake of Cyclone Amphan. He will conduct aerial surveys and take part in review meetings, where aspects of relief and rehabilitation will be discussed,” the PMO said in a tweet.
“Undertook an aerial survey of #CycloneAmphan affected areas in #Odisha. The cyclone has severely damaged houses, standing crops, electrical infrastructure and uprooted trees in many districts. Steps are being taken up on a war footing to restore normalcy,” Odisha CM Patnaik twitted after making a survey.
Ahead of Prime Minister Modi’s visit, a meeting was held at Biju Patnaik International Airport, Bhubaneswar in presence of the airport Director and senior police officials. Security arrangements at the airport were also reviewed.
The official sources, however, added after the National Security Guard (NSG) officials arrive in Odisha late night on Thursday, the detailed schedule of the Prime Minister will be known later.Among others, Intelligence Special DG Satyajit Mohanty, Intelligence Director RK Sharma, Police Commissioner Sudhanshu Sarangi and other senior officials were present in the meeting.
