BHUBANESWAR/BERHAMPUR: The posting in Ganjam as Collector, seems a reward as it is the home turf of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. But interestingly, this politically sensitive southern district got an Odia IAS Officer as its Collector in last 1 decade.
With Dibya Jyoti Parida has been appointed as New Collector of extremely important Ganjam district, the trend of Non-Odia IAS posting got a halt in Ganjam.
The last 4 former Ganjam Collectors were non Odia, read Dr Krishan Kumar, now Additional Secretary, with Union Ministry of Commerce while VK Pandian, is now Secretary to CM(5T) .
The outgoing , Kulange Vijay Amruta, has been posted as Commissioner of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation and remain in charge of CEO, BSCL and MD, CRUT in addition to his own duties while another former Ganjam Collector, Prem Chandra Chaudhary , who was State Project Director SPD, OAV , shifted and has been appointed as Director, Agriculture and Food Production.
During this period, only One Odia Officer, Dr. Sashi Bhusan Padhy served for months as Ganjam Collector from 30-04-2011 to 03-05-2011.
