BHUBANESWAR/JAJPUR/ANGUL: YK Jethwa , Odisha ADGP(Law and Order), proved his crisis management skills with able team continued to serve the Nation in supplying medical oxygen. Since Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik pitched an emotional appeal seeking everyone’s support in fight against second wave of COVID-19, Police Headquarters’ immediately swung into action with DGP Abhay guiding them from the front by visiting district headquarters. With DGP Abhay put his hope on ADGP, Jethwa, the 1994 batch IPS officer, missing no stone unturned to ensure smooth movement of medical oxygen tankers amid police security. Jethwa is also holding additional charge of ADGP CID-CB.
A total of 559 tankers/containers carrying 10270.298 MT medical oxygen have been dispatched under escort/supervision of Odisha Police so far from Rourkela, Jajpur, Dhenkanal and Angul districts of Odisha to 11 deficit states in the country. More are leaving on Tuesday.During last 19 days, as many as 57 tankers were dispatched from Angul with 945.302 MT, 147 from Dhenkanal with 2324.32 MT, 134 from Jajpur with 2790.112 MT and 221 from Rourkela with 4210.564 MT.
A total of 169 tankers with 3385.754 MT of oxygen have been sent so far to Andhra Pradesh, and 147 tankers with 2494.829 MT of oxygen to Telengana. Tamilnadu has received 12 tankers filled with 234.94 MT of medical oxygen. Similarly, Haryana has received 79 tankers filled with 1460.342 MT of oxygen. 27 tankers with 465.831 MT of oxygen have been sent so far to Maharashtra, while 320.322 MT of oxygen filled in 21 tankers have been dispatched to Chhattisgarh. As many as 38 tankers have carried around 719.95 MT of oxygen to Uttar Pradesh and 47 nos of tankers with 823.96 MT of oxygen have been sent to Madhya Pradesh till date. 15 tankers with 274.86 MT of oxygen have been sent so far to Delhi, 2 tankers with 58.22 MT sent to Punjab and 2 tankers with 31.29 MT sent to Bihar in last 19 days.
Based on the directive of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, a Special Cell was formed under Y K Jethwa, ADG (L&O) as the Nodal Officer for coordinated action for loading and transportation of medical oxygen by Odisha to States facing deficit. A Dedicated Corridor has been set up with round the clock monitoring. District SsP/DCsP and Range DIG/IG/CP are supervising the movement personally within their jurisdictions.
Odisha Police is committed to ensure that there is no delay in loading and transporting so as to promptly serve thousands of needy patients in UP, MP, Haryana, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Telengana, Tamilnadu, Punjab, Delhi, Bihar and other states.
