In the backdrop of the first World Odia Language Conference scheduled to be held here between February 3 and 5, a series of discourses on Odia Language, Literature and Culture have been lined up at the Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan Deemed to be University (SOA) on Sunday and Monday.

BHUBANESWAR:  In the backdrop of the first World Odia Language Conference scheduled to be held here between February 3 and 5, a series of discourses on Odia Language, Literature and Culture have been lined up at the Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan Deemed to be University (SOA) on Sunday and Monday.

The program, to be held on February 4 and 5, will be organised jointly by the department of Odia Language, Literature and Culture of the Odisha government and SOA.

The inaugural ceremony, to be held on February 4, will be attended by Mr. Ranendra Pratap Swain, Odisha’s Minister for Agriculture, Farmers’ Empowerment, Fisheries and Animal Resources, and Mr. Rasbehari Behera, well known litterateur. SOA’s Vice-Chancellor Prof. Pradipta Kumar Nanda will preside.

The first day’s discourses will be on ‘Jagannath Culture’, ‘Ancient Odia Literature’, ‘Medieval Odia Literature’ and ‘Puranic Literary Traditions in Medieval Odia Literature’. On the second day, the discourses will be on ‘Odisha’s Tribal Culture’, ‘Odia Literature’, ‘Odia Culture’ and ‘Modern Odia Literature’.

Eminent Odia novelist, literary critic, columnist and educationist Mr. Bibhuti Patnaik will be felicitated in the concluding session to be held on February 5.
