BARIPADA/BHUBANESWAR:   A fake court order was used to deceive and steal pension money from a deceased CISF jawan. The scam involved forging the judge’s signature and seal on a court order from 2021, which was used to obtain ₹20 lakhs in pension benefits from the CISF.

The fake court order was used to claim that the jawan, Yadunath Singh, and his wife Minati had a divorce settlement. Additionally, a fake marriage certificate was also obtained, claiming that Yadunath had married his sister in law, Somabari.

The scam was uncovered after Yadunath’s death in 2023, and four individuals have been arrested in connection with the case. The government lawyer who was initially handling the case has also gone missing.

An investigation was launched after it was discovered that a fake court order was used to steal pension money from a deceased CISF jawan. The probe revealed that the entire scam was orchestrated using forged documents.

Four individuals, including Mahural Banamali Singh, computer shop owner Bijay Patra, and the jawan’s sister-in-law Somabari and his son Nilam Singh, were arrested by Udala police in connection with the case. The main accused, government lawyer Pratima Sahoo, is currently absconding.
