BARGARH : Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY), the financially privileged beneficiaries can afford treatment for themselves and their families in large private hospitals in the state and outside the state. But Nirasi Matari, a cancer sufferer, has to miss out. Even though her BSKY health card in hand, due to a minor clerical error, she went for treatment from a private hospital and had to return disappointed.
Nirasi Matari, wife of Kunda Matari of Gopeipali village under Barpali block, went to a cancer specialist at a private hospital in Bargarh after noticing some abnormality in her breast. After various tests, it was found to be cancer. The doctor suggested immediate treatment for her. But knowing that it would cost a lot, she went to the local hospital to use her Biju health card, only to find out that his name was wrong on the card. Then after seeing the ration card, it came to know that while her correct name in the ration card is Nirasi Matari in Odia but the wrong name in English has become Kirani Matari. Based on that English name, her name is mentioned as Kirani Matari in the Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana card. So she is deprived of this privilege.
Nirasi has her husband and two daughters in her family. The two daughters are living in their in-laws house. Husband’s health is also not good. Both husband and wife are supporting themselves by doing some agriculture work. She cannot afford a costly treatment like cancer. So there is no one to take her to the hospital. Achyut Nag, a youth of the village and a member of West Odisha Yuva Manch, is giving her moral and physical support. Achyut every day running to rectify the wrong of this card.
But according to them there it is a minor error but it cannot be fixed due to network and software issues. It is not possible to improve the technical center in block or district office. This can be done in the head office of the state. From there, if corrected, the name can be corrected in a short period of time. In this regard, the Chairman of Fighters Group Trust, and associate member Deepa Barik have tweeted to the concerned department but till now there is no satisfactory answer or improvement. Desperate, if the treatment is not quick, her life is in danger, she gave up hope of treatment in the big private hospital and called the government hospital as her refuge. Achyut alleged that not supporting the Biju Swashwath Kalyan Yojana card for the hopeless in this area is a big mistake of the government process.
