BHUBANESWAR:The 8th State Police Inter-Battalion Commando Competition was held at Special Operation Group (SOG) Chandaka this morning. The Inter-Battalion Commando Competition has been organized with the aim of further strengthening combat skills, physical capabilities, strategic skills and mental endurance, said Additional Director General of Security (Anti-Naxal Operations) Shri Sanjeev Panda, who attended as the chief guest. 402 commandos from 17 teams of various armed battalions of Odisha Police participated in this competition.
He also emphasized that the competition will be able to increase professionalism, discipline and team coordination among the commandos. He also expressed his opinion that it will strengthen the commandos mentally to deal with any adverse situation quickly and successfully.
Shri Panda also said that keeping in mind the various challenges faced in the current situation, it is imperative for the commandos to remain physically and mentally fit at all times. He also opined that it is very important to keep themselves updated with new technologies, modern weapons and tactical skills.
Commandos from various armed police battalions of the state will participate in this competition and showcase their skills in competitions like obstacle course, 1.3 km run on confidence course while wearing a 5 kg backpack, cross-country hiking with a 5 kg backpack, and firing.
ADGP Panda congratulated all the participating commandos and emphasized on continuing professional training and competition.
He expressed that the Odisha Police is always ready and alert to make the police force modern, capable and able to successfully face various challenges to further strengthen the law and order and peace system in the state.
SP Special Branch Shri Raj Prasad, Deputy Commandant, Payal Dayal, Sports Officer, Shri Neela Madhav Swain were the prominent present at today’s inauguration ceremony.
