RANCHI/BHUBANESWAR: The 75th Independence Day was celebrated at NTPC Coal Mining Headquarters, Ranchi on 15.08.2021 with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervour. On the occasion, Chief Guest, Shri Partha Mazumder, Regional Executive Director (Coal Mining) hoisted the National flag with a guard of honour and salutation to the National anthem.
Shri Mazumder on this auspicious day remembered and paid homage to those who contributed for India’s independence. He also mentioned that Hon’ble Prime Minister spearheaded the ‘Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav’ as a Jana Andolan to create awareness across India, which commemorates the occasion of 75 years of India’s independence in 2022. He shared the major achievements of NTPC and NTPC Coal Mining Division.
While talking about NTPC’s digitization initiatives, Shri Mazumder expressed sincere thanks to NTPC Management for its vision and guidance, especially for implementation of digital initiative “PRADIP” for paperless office work. In this direction, the coal mining division is going to digitize about 90 lakhs pages pertaining to all statutory clearances, land documents, railway planning, geological reports etc for all coal mining projects and headquarters.He mentioned that amidst all odds, NTPC has achieved total coal production of 11 MMT during FY 2020-21. In this current FY, coal production is targeted as 13.25 MMT, which is 20% more than last year’s achievement. Coal from our captive mines is in great demand because of its quality, sizing and low cost, Shri Mazumder said.
Shri Mazumder added that, being a new area for mining, it is our responsibility to build a culture that promotes sustainability, cost-effectiveness, performance, concern for others (including Project Affected persons) etc. To support our core business of power generation with quality fuel at a competitive price, it’s our prime responsibility to maintain sustainable coal production, maintaining a safe and environment-friendly work environment. He asked all to be very vigilant and to play a proactive role to achieve the goal of ‘Zero Incident’.
Other than production and operational excellence in the mining front, Shri Mazumder also shared the recent major achievements in augmentation of the medical infrastructure at various medical units by team coal mining to fight against Novel CoronaVirus which will help in tackling COVID Pandemic. RED (Coal Mining) expressed his sincere thanks to all the employees of the Coal Mining Department who worked tirelessly in ensuring availability of the coal to our power stations during the COVID pandemic situation.He thanked NTPC senior management, Ministry of Power& Ministry of Coal, GOI, State Government of Jharkhand, Odisha, Chhattisgarh for their constant support and guidance to take forward NTPC’s Coal Mining to newer heights.
To commemorate the special day, covid warriors i,e housekeeping, office assistants, security personnel, ICH workers, drivers, were felicitated for their untiring efforts. Shri Mazumder remembered and paid homage to those who have lost their lives in COVID pandemic.Meritorious awards for the employees of CMHQ for their special contributions, and also the prizes for various competitions conducted as a part of ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ to the employees and their wards, were given during this function.
On the occasion, Shri Alios Topno, GM(HR), Shri Amit Dubey, GM(Safety), HODs of CMHQ, Smt Mahua Mazumder President, Swayamsiddha Ladies Club, and Ladies Club Committee Members and employees of CMHQ were present on the occasion.
