The Mahakumbha of Odia Diaspora world wide will also witness the conferment of First Biswa Odia Samman, Second Prabasi Odia Sammans, First Utkala Mitra Samman and Ratnashri Puraskars to prominent personalities in recognition to their outstanding contributions towards enriching Odisha’s name, fame and fortune in National and International arena.
USA based famous cardiac surgeon, Founder of Orissa Cultural Centre at Houston and Chairman of Utkal Hospital at Bhubaneswar Dr. Aditya Kumar Samal has been nominated to receive First Biswa Odia Samman. Secretary of the Managing Committee of New Delhi’s Hauz Khas Jagannath temple, Sree Neelachal Seva Sangh and noted social leader Ravindranath Pradhan and WOS’s Prime Mentor Pritish Ranjan Dash have been designated to receive Second Prabasi Odia Sammans.
First Utkala Mitra Samman will be conferred on Former Governor of Odisha and renowned Scholar, Professor Ganeshi Lal. Late Professor Dr Digambar Mishra will receive the Prabasi Odia Samman posthumously for his remarkable role in promoting, propagating and popularising Odisha’s art, culture and heritage in U.S.A vigorously for several years. Reputed Philanthropic Institutions like Lok Sevak Mandal, Rays Foundation, Rama Foundation, BM Foundation, KRIAA Foundation, Mahakankhya Foundation, Vijayani Foundation and HELP have been choosen to receive Ratnashri Awards.
A brain storming session entitled “Vibrant Odisha Summit” will be hosted by WOS during the ceremony. Eminent commentators and erudite thought leaders will present their expert views on the Topic “Golden Odisha @ 2036. A colourful Souvenir namely ‘Swarnima’ is slated to be released during the meeting.
It may be mentioned here that World Odisha Society was founded during the auspicious day of Makar sankranti in 2021 with Twenty countries as members. The main motto of this apex association of Global Odias is to unite around one and half crore Odias staying outside of Odisha under one platform and channelize their material and metaphysical resources towards all round development of their mother state Odisha. Now after four years of existence the society has substantially enhanced its presence in major parts of the World having 73 countries as its members.
