72 year old dies in COVID-19 in Odisha, Positive cases reach at 41

BHUBANESWAR: Odisha Health and Family Welfare Department was on Tuesday informed that a 72-year old man from Jharpada area of Bhubaneswar, who was undergoing treatment after found COVID-19 positive, died at AIIMS here. It was first case of death in COVID-19.

“One 72 years male belonging to Jharpada had been admitted to AIIMS Bhubaneswar on 4th April with complaint of respiratory distress. He had history of chronic hypertension. He expired on 6th April. He was tested positive for COVID-19.Contact tracing and containment is ongoing,” twitted H & FW Dept Odisha (@HFWOdisha).

Sources said he was admitted to the hospital on April 4 as he complained of respiratory distress and had history of chronic hypertension.

Later, the septuagenarian tested positive for COVID-19 and breathed his last yesterday while undergoing treatment. Contact tracing and containment in this connection is underway.

Meanwhile, number of COVID-19 cases in Odisha mounted to 41 as a person tested positive for the virus in Bhubaneswar, today.

The person has been identified as a 45-year-old man of Madhusudan Nagar, Unit IV in the city.

“One more Covid 19 positive case in Bhubaneswar. Male, 45 years, Madhusudan Nagar, Unit IV,” twitted H & FW Dept Odisha (@HFWOdisha).
