BHUBANESWAR: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi in written reply to question relating at Home Department, said 44 Prisoners escaped from various Jails in last 5 years in Odisha , 27 people have been arrested; 17 are still absconding.
CM Majhi said there are 18,176 prisoners in 86 jails in the state. Of these, 14,040 are under trial, 4136 have been sentenced.
Forty-four prisoners have escaped from various jails in the last five years.27 people have been arrested; 17 are still absconding, he added.
