BHUBANESWAR: Odisha Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister, Ranendra Pratap Swain(Raja) was on Wednesday said till date 4,30,300 tonnes of paddy have been procured from 51021 farmers belonging to 17 districts. The minister said in 2019 on this date 2,93,489 tonnes of paddy were procured.
He said 627 paddy procurement centres were set up and the farmers were provided with P-PASS and tokens for the purpose. The minister said 2,58,117 farmers have registered their names and details of 2,27,122 farmers are being screened.
Nearly 20 percent more farmers have registered their names this year for Rabi crop procurement process, Swain said.
Bargarh tops the list of paddy procurement with 2,28,302 tonnes. The Sonepur district has procured 54,916 tonnes,Sambalpur 50,839,Kalahandi 31,933, Nuapada 16,248 and Puri 11,989 respectively.
