4 Outlawed Maoists’ killed in fierce gun battle in Odisha’s Kalahandi

PHULABANI/BHUBANESWAR: As many as 4 outlawed leftwing ultras have been killed at Sirki village under Belghar police station of Odisha’s southern district of Kalahandi

2 Teams of SOG and DVF launched an operation on Kalahandi-Kandhamal border on September on Wednesday and the gun battle took place at around 11 am on Thursday following heavy firing from the red rebels. In retaliation, a team of SOG and DVF killed 4 Maoists

Soon after the encounter, more teams of SOG, DVF and CRPF have been sent to the area for combing and search operation. Earlier, on July 5 and July 23, 7 Maoists were gunned down by the security forces in Sirla Reserve forest area under Tumudibandha police limits in the district.

SP Kalahandi, B Gangadhar led the Operation and in this exchange of fire four Maoists have been neutralized. However 1 SOG Jawan has been injured. The injured Jawan is being evacuated. One team of SOG, DVF when subjected to heavy firing from the Maoists resorted to retaliatory fire.
