BHUBANESWAR/CUTTACK: As many as 36 persons including 16 from Puri, 14 in Jajpur and 6 in Dhenkanal , have been arrested for their alleged role in violence during the first phase of polling for Odisha Panchayat and Zilla Parishad Polls held on February 16, State DGP office said on Thursday.
“Police have arrested 16 nos of person in Puri district, 14 nos in Jajpur and 06 nos in Dhenkanal district in connection with poll disruption incidents during the First phase.Police have seized 387177 Litres Liquor, 38 illigal arms, 2216.56 gms of narcotic drugs, registered 4966 nos of excise cases and executed 1903 no of pending warrants during the election process so far,” the DGP office said.
The Second phase of 3-tier PRI Elections – 2022 in the State will be held on 18th February 2022 and people of different districts will cast their votes. State Police have made adequate security arrangement for free and fair elections. 240 platoons force, 1753 mobile patrolling parties along with district Police Officers/ Men have been deployed all over the state for smooth conduct of second phase of elections. 20435 booths will go for poll during this phase of elections. The election will be conducted with strict enforcement of State Election Commission guidelines and Covid protocols, it said.
