3 Outlawed Left-Wing Ultras Gun Down in Odisha’s Malkangiri

MALKANGIRI/BHUBANESWAR: Heavy exchange of fire going on between security forces and outlawed left-wing ultras near Tulasi hills under Mathili PS in Malkangiri district of Odisha bordering Chhattisgarh.

Senior Police officials claimed that least 3 Maoists including two women cadres were killed in a fierce gun battle between security forces near Tulasi hills under Mathili PS in Malkangiri district.

The exchange of fire began this morning when, responding to a tip-off, the DVF and SOG personnel began a joint combing operation, sources said. During the operation, the Maoists suddenly opened fire on the security personnel who immediately retaliated. In retaliation, three Maoists were killed. While two guns have been seized, a combing operation is underway in the area.

Director Intelligence, Lalit Das, IGP(Operations), Amitabh Thakur, DIG SW Rajesh Pandit and DIG SOG, Anirudha Singh and other senior officials are closely monitoring the anti-Maoists operation, sources added.
