BHUBANESWAR/CUTTACK: With DGP Abhay and ADGP(Law and Order) YK Jethwa taking the lead , Odisha Police continued to lead in medical oxygen supply to various COVID-19 hospitals across India.
The office of Odisha DGP, on Friday said , a total of 153 tankers/containers carrying 2879.082 MT medical oxygen have been escorted so far from Rourkela, Jajpur, Dhenkanal and Angul districts of Odisha by Odisha Police. More are leaving on Friday.As many as 21 tankers were dispatched from Angul with 342.82 MT, 28 from Dhenkanal with 453.7 MT, 43 from Jajpur with 895.66 MT and 61 from Rourkela with 1186.902 MT.
Furthers, 49 tankers with 1035.36 MT of oxygen were sent to Andhra Pradesh, 41 tankers with 702.439 MT of oxygen were sent to Telengana. Tamilnadu received 03 tanker filled with 53.46 MT of medical oxygen. Similarly, Haryana received 13 tankers filled with 297.662 MT of oxygen. 06 tankers with 112.06 MT of oxygen were sent to Maharashtra, while 121.321 MT of oxygen filled in 8tankers have left for Chhattisgarh. As many as 13 tankers have carried around 238.43 MT of oxygen to Uttar Pradesh and 20 nos of tankers with 318.35 MT of oxygen were sent to Madhya Pradesh in last 08 days.
Based on the directive of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, a Special Cell was formed under Shri Y K Jethwa, ADG (L&O) as the Nodal Officer for coordinated action for loading and transportation of medical oxygen by Odisha to States facing deficit. A Dedicated Corridor has been set up with round the clock monitoring. District SsP/DCsP and Range DIG/IG/CP are supervising the movement personally within their jurisdictions.
Odisha Police is committed to ensure that there is no delay in loading and transporting so as to promptly serve thousands of needy patients in UP, MP, Haryana, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Telengana, Tamil Nadu and other needy states. Odisha Police will do our utmost for prompt service to assist the needy states.
