2 Outlawed Leftwing Ultras Gun Down in Odisha’s Malkangiri

BHUBANESWAR/MALKANGIRI: Days after a woman Maoists cadre gun down in Kandhamal district , security forces manning the highly leftwing insurgency hit south-western police range, on Sunday morning killed 2 more outlawed guerrillas in Malkangiri district of Odisha.   

The Maoists received a major jolt after 2 of their comrades including a woman, were killed during an exchange of fire with security forces in Gajalmamudi area of Swabhiman Anchal in the district. The security forces seized an INSAS rifle, one SLR rifle, ammunition, 3 Maoist kit bags, and other incriminating articles from the spot. Further search and combing operation have been intensified in the area after the incident.

The incident took place when an operation by the SOG jawans was underway in the area. The extremists opened fire at the security forces, following which the jawans retaliated. Two Maoists were neutralized during the gunfight. Earlier, a woman Maoist had died during an exchange of fire with security forces near a village under Gochhapada police limits in Kandhamal district on December 11.
