2 MoUs Signed for Cancer Hospital in Odisha

BHUBANESWAR:  Reiterating its commitment to avail world class health care facility for people of Odisha, the Naveen Patnaik Government   has signed two MoUs for two state-of-the-art cancer care centres in #Bhubaneswar in the presence of CM Naveen Patnaik who described the occasion as a historic moment in the healthcare development in the State.

The first MoU was signed for Bagchi-Sri Shankar Cancer Centre & Research Institute by Odisha Govt, Smt Susmita Bagchi, and Shri Shankar Cancer Foundation. The Centre will provide global standard cancer treatment facilities to people of Odisha and eastern region of the country.

The second MoU was inked for Bagchi-Karunashraya Palliative Care Centre by the State Govt, Smt Susmita Bagchi and Karunashraya Hospice Trust. The Centre will provide high quality palliative care, peace and dignity to patients in their last few days.

Chief Secretary Suresh Mohapatra, Additional Chief Secretary Health Pradipta Mohapatra, 5T Secretary VK Pandian and Advisor to CMO, R Balakrishnan were among those present.

Chief Minister Patnaik congratulated Smt Susmita Bagchi, Shri Subroto Bagchi for their generous contribution of ₹340 Cr for oncology centres & said Govt will extend all support to make these centres operational by January 2024. CM hoped that this act will inspire many to experience joy of giving.

Underlining the significance of service to society, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, quoting Rabindranath Tagore, said, “I slept and dreamt that life was joy. I awoke and saw that life was service. I acted and behold, service was joy.”
