BHUBANESWAR: Amid demand of resignation of Union Railways Minister following Train mishap in Odisha’s Balasore killing more than 275 and injuring over 1175 passengers, the track record of Railway Ministers, under the UPA, has come to fore.
During Mamata Banerjee as Union Railways Minister, as many 54 collision reported with 839 derailment and 1451 deaths. During Nitish Kumar as Union Railways Minister, 79 collisions had happened with 1000 derailment and 1527 deaths. During Lalu Yadav as Union Railways Minister, 51 collisions reported with 550 derailments and 1159 deaths.
Now Bihar CM, Nitish Kumar even had first resigned after Gaisal train accident as Railway Minister, but joined again as Cabinet Minister after some months.
